If you’re going to travel, you might as well do it with someone else. It’s more fun that way — sometimes. British Airways has a cool incentive for when you apply for their British Airways Visa Signature card. After you spend US $30,000 in one calendar year, you’ll receive a free Travel Together Ticket. You can bring a companion along on a trip that originates in the U.S. And the program guarantees you and your companion a seat together in the same cabin on a British Airways reward flight.
How it Works
As the card member, you’ll have to book a reward flight directly through British Airways and no other travel agency or third party site. The flight must be purchased using Avios and not money. However, you have the option to purchase up to 35,000 Avios per year and account if you don’t already have enough Avios to cover the flight (you can earn up to 100,000 Avios with the $30,000 spent in purchases with the credit card). Avios don’t expire as long as you remain an active member in the Executive Club Program — which you join for free. However, money must cover both you and your companion’s flight’s taxes, fees, and charges.
Taxes and fees on reward flights range in price depending on destination and cabin type:
- Miami to Cancun are $72 per adult in economy
- Seattle to London they can range from approximately $682-1250 per adult in economy
- Seattle to London $1250 in business class

Free Travel Together Ticket
You will receive the voucher in your British Airways Executive Club account 4-6 weeks after the billing cycle your Travel Together Ticket is issued. You won’t be eligible for another voucher until the next calendar year. And the companion ticket is valid within 2 years from its issue date. After this, it expires and cannot be used.
Applying for British Airways Visa Signature Card
Once you apply for the British Airways Visa Signature Card and the application is accepted, you must spend at least US $30,000 to qualify for the Travel Together Ticket. This will earn you up to 100,000 Avios towards a future trip. “That’s enough for a transatlantic flight for two traveling in business (Club World) using your Travel Together Ticket.”
The USD $30,000 spend target must be done within a 12 month period starting each year on January 1 and ending on December 31 (this excludes cash withdrawals, interest, balance transfers or fees). The US $30,000 spent in the 12 month period cannot carry over into the next 12 month period. Annual fee is USD $95 on this card.
