Whatever you choose from workouts and spa time in the morning to delicious cocktails and beats in the afternoon, we’ll make sure it’s memorable.

W Costa Rica – Reserva Conchal | Feb 28 – Mar 4

The first FUEL Weekend will take place at the brand new W Costa Rica – Reserva Conchal. Hidden between the mangroves of Guanacaste, W Costa Rica – Reserve Concha is a modern oasis where the undercover rebel can let their spirits roam freely. Their lively resort is surrounded by exotic landscapes and sugar white sands of the shoreline. Inspired by the vibrant culture of Guanacaste, the hotel boasts a bold design that audaciously reinvents the idea of luxury. Admire panoramic views of our reserve from the blissful serenity of plush bedding before splashing into your suite’s private plunge pool.

After an action-packed day of golfing, surfing or sunbathing, retreat to the hotel’s spa, AWAY®, where you will be pampered from head to toe with locally inspired treatments and have a martini in hand. When the sun goes down the party is just getting started. Indulge in an array of decadent dining at one of many restaurants before dancing the night away at the on-site club, Zona Azul.

Booking W Costa Rica – Reserva Conchal Fuel Weekend

Would you be surprised that when I first clicked the link to book this package, I received an error message?

It seems that Marriott continues to face technical challenges, which is how many months post merger? While quick on the reply, even the response on Twitter was lackluster. Nothing like being asked a question that you clearly answered in the first message:

Sure, you can go ahead and book your room (starting at $486/night) and then call the hotel and have them add the FUEL Weekend package to your reservation.

They got back to us and from what it looks like, there aren’t any real differences in cost between booking separately or as the package.

If you choose to book and pay with cash, you’ll earn 10 Marriott Rewards points per U.S. $1.00 spent on qualifying hotel charges.

You can also score a minimum of 4,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles just by simply activating the AAdvantage eShopping Portal offer.

That’s a lot of money though, and for four nights you’re looking at over $2,000 just for your room. Guest rooms at W Hotels are quite nice, especially at a brand new Marriott Category 7 property such as W Costa Rica – Reserva Conchal.

What’s better than spending 4 days focused on Detox Retox #selfcare? Not paying out of pocket for the rooms! For only 240,000 Marriott Rewards points, you can get 5 nights, for the price of 4 with the 5th Night Free Award Redemption Promo. Besides some easy ways to quickly earn Marriott Rewards points, there are 40+ transfer partners that allow you to convert your hard earned points and miles into free hotel stays!

Marriott Rewards Airline Transfer Partners

Post merger, 1 SPG point = 3 Marriott points. Formerly, the transfer ratio was 20,000 SPG points = 20,000 airline miles + 5,000 bonus miles.

So now, this has been replaced with 60,000 Marriott points = 20,000 airline miles + 5,000 bonus miles.

This rate applies for 41 airlines, and 3 other airlines transfer at separate rates:

  • United MileagePlus receives a 10% bonus: 60,000 Marriott points = 27,500 miles
  • JetBlue TrueBlue transfers at 6:1, so 60,000 Marriott points = 12,500 points
  • Air New Zealand Airpoints transfers at 200:1, so 60,000 Marriott points = 325 points

Marriott Rewards Credit Card Transfer Partners

American Express Membership Rewards

You can directly earn Marriott Rewards points with these co-branded AMEX cards:

  • Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express
  • Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express
  • The Starwood Preferred Guest® Luxury Credit Card from American Express

You can also transfer AMEX Membership Rewards points to Marriott Rewards at a 1:1 ratio in amounts of 1,000. Be careful though, because The Points Guy values Membership Rewards at 1.9 cents apiece, but Marriott points at only 0.9 cents each.

Chase Ultimate Rewards

You can directly earn Marriott Rewards points with these co-branded Chase cards:

  • Marriott Rewards Premier Plus Credit Card
  • Marriott Rewards Premier Plus Business Credit Card

You can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Marriott Rewards at a 1:1 ratio in amounts of 1,000. Mind you, transfers are nonrefundable.
